NTLM

NTLM is the original Microsoft authentication system used to authenticate users to a Microsoft server. This may be used as a fall back for Microsoft's Integrated Windows Authentication in cases where Kerberos is unavailable (e.g. manual 'basic' credential entry as opposed to 'Negotiate').
