I ran into the "Download FailedDownload Failed" problem.

My webhost uses PHP 5.2.6, and curl is enabled, so I tried switching to curl as the instructions mentioned, but the download still fails:

Download Failed: Local output opening failed: fopen(/nfs/c01/h04/mnt/38682/domains/example.com/html//home/38682/domains/example.com/html/tmp/jupgrader.xml) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory(43)

/nfs/c01/h04/mnt/38682/domains/example.com/html/tmp is what Update Manger suggest my temp directory should be.

/home/38682/domains/example.com/html/tmp/ is what my hosting provider suggests my temp directory should be. I belive my webhost is symlinking /home/38682/ to the full path of /nfs/c01/h04/mnt/38682/ so that they can move sites between mount points if necessary.

If I change my Joomla config to the value suggested by Update Manager, things work properly. But I'd prefer to not do this in case my host moves things around.

It looks like update manager is somehow concacting the two paths when it attempts fopen()

I have around 15 clients using this same hosting provider, which means I'll run into this issue quite a bit.
