Jaguar Super Ways Review

It’s refreshing when a newcomer is not holding anything back, and instead attempts to revolutionize the whole slot experience. This is exactly what Bad Dingo has done with their debut slot, Jaguar Super Ways, released on Yggdrasil’s YGS Masters Program. If the Megaways engine and the Infinity Reels engine had a child, perhaps it would look something like what’s on display here.

The medium volatility combined with an unusually high hit rate gives you plenty of action at all stages of this game. It’s all about landing winning combos with paw icons attached, as this triggers the 3x3 mega paw that removes symbols and expands the grid. The 387,420,489 potential win ways is hard to wrap your mind around, but at the same time it makes the solid 22,457x potential look kind of small in comparison.

Jaguar Super Ways Features

The Cascading Wins feature removes all winning symbols, and new symbols drop down to fill the gaps. The process will repeat up to 15 times at the most, or until you don’t form at least 1 new winning combo. Jaguar wilds can help you out in that regard, as they step in for all regular pay symbols.

You’ll see small paw icons down in the corner of random symbols, and these trigger the SuperWays mechanic whenever they are involved in a winning combo.

A 3x3 Mega Paw symbol is then stamped onto the grid, and this removes all symbols underneath regardless of whether they were involved in the winning combo or not.

If the 3x3 Mega Paw covers the stone blockers at the edge of the grid, new symbol positions are opened up accordingly. When new space is opened up for extra symbols to land, this also increases the win ways. You can carve out a 9x9 grid via the Mega Paws at the most, and this gives you an eye-watering 387,420,489 ways to win.

You trigger the Bonus Round when you land 3 to 8 scatters anywhere in sight, and this awards 7, 10, 12, 15, 18 or 20 free spins, respectively. The free spins comes with a 5x4 default grid, instead of 5x3 which is the base game default. You cannot retrigger the feature, and everything else works the same as in the base game.

Review Summary

It’s certainly a bold move from newcomer, Bad Dingo, to dish up a brand new mechanic in their debut release. We see a lot of potential in the Super Ways feature for sure, but there are certain things that hold Jaguar SuperWays back from being the sensation it perhaps could have been. The most obvious drawback is the 94.32 % RTP, which is well below the 96 % standard most players expect these days.

The regular game pace is also a bit slow, and it doesn’t look/feel natural when the symbols drop in semi slow-motion. This can be fixed by hammering the spin button a lot, but we didn’t see any turbo spin option. Visually, the game looks dated, and the soundtrack doesn’t really fit the jungle-theme bill. We were a bit disappointed that the grid resets between free spins, but lengthy cascades are not all that hard to land.

Pros

  • Innovative Super Ways mechanic
  • Up to 9x9 grid with 387,420,489 win ways
  • Bonus round w/ 5x4 default grid
  • Win up to 22,457x your stake

Cons

  • RTP of 94.32 % is deal-breakingly low
