In the Update Manager for Joomla!, there will some times be a warning about a potentially invalid temporary path. This may not necessarily be a problem with your configuration but is a warning. If you encounter issues where downloading the updates fails or otherwise doesn't appear to work then you might need to change this setting.

The Update Manager uses the temporary path assigned in the Joomla! global configuration. This setting is in the administrator area under:

• Site
• Global Configuration
• Server
• Server Settings
• Path to Temp-folder

If you are having issues typically copying the update file in step 1 then you might need to change this setting to match the suggested path.

Note: There is currently a weird issue with FTP configuration and paths outside of the root directory.
