Hi!
I use Update Manager on more site´s. It works perfect on all sites, except one site.

After downloading the update file (Update Manager does it well in the tmp folder - Package File 1.23 Mb) i say "you can proceed with the install >>>"

After a while it comes:

* JFTP::write: Bad response
* Unable to write entry

Failed to extract archive!

What happens here? i´ve two sites on one server. Both are installed on the same way, and they works both. On the "problem site" are more Components installed (Akeeba Backup, JCE Administration). Moduls the same.

Any Idea? Please answer.

Best regards - Johann

I am having a similar problem. I use the excellent update manager on several sites and it performs perfectly on all except one.
The problem site throws the following error message
" * Unable to write entry

Warning: file_put_contents(/home/joomla15/public_html/templates/rhuk_milkyway/css/template.css) [function.file-put-contents]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/joomla15/public_html/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 298

Failed to extract archive!"

I took a look at the file.php file but my php knowlegde is limited and I couldn't see where the problem may be.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Happy New Year :)
Graham

With some help from the Joomla forums this has been solved.
Turned out to be a permission error on the template.css file in the rhuk_milkway template.
Hope that helps others with this problem.
cheers,
Graham
