At step 1 ('... download the update file >>>')
I get an error message: 'Parsing XML Document Failed: Not an update definition file!'

I have tried all combinations of parameters:
Extractor: 1.5 Default and PEAR Archive_Tar
Download: fopen and cURL
I am not using a proxy

Joomla v 1.5.15
PHP v 5.2.17 (cURL enabled and allow_url_fopen=on)
System Info > Directory permissions shows all directories as writeable

I should be very grateful for help - JUpdateMan is so obviously the application I need!

What is the path to your temp directory set to and does it look right? Does JUpdateMan report an issue with your temp directory?

The temp directory is .../website/tmp/ which seems fine.

JUpdateMan did not report any issue with that directory

I see that jupgrader.xml is in that directory and contains just one line:
<HTML><BODY>The URL you requested has been blocked. URL = jsitepoint.com/update/packages/joomla/update.xml</BODY></HTML>
