eDirectory based Single Sign On utilises the networkAddress attribute from the LDAP interface of eDirectory to determine who the user is based on the remote IP address attempting to communicate with the server. Whilst not as safe as other SSO technologies (like Kerberos or other server provided interfaces), in the appropriate environment it can provide a base form of security. This technology is only available via the front end where extensive damaged is limited.
Note: Joomla! 1.0.x users are able to use this specific method through the LDAP SSO mambot.
