Fedora Directory Services

Fedora Directory Services is the open sourced version of the Netscape Directory Services system, which in itself originated from OpenLDAP. It supports numerous cool features and I have reports that LDAP Tools have successfully been used against this service. http://directory.fedora.redhat.com/

Microsoft Active Directory

One of the most popular LDAP services around even those who run it don't even realize its based on a full standard (and appropriately altered by Microsoft to make it behave slightly differently).

SunONE

Sun ONE is a Sun product aimed at unifying various authentication systems.

OpenLDAP

OpenLDAP is a highly configurable LDAP server. Given there is a large number of ways OpenLDAP can be configured, there isn't 100% full support for every configuration. However most sane configurations and setups should work perfectly fine. To further support and augment OpenLDAP there is a Joomla! Schema you can use to add group mapping support to a base OpenLDAP install. Additionally there is instructions on how to get OpenLDAP up and running.

Novell eDirectory

Novell eDirectory, formerly Novell Directory Services, is one of the oldest enterprise directory services around, predating Microsoft Active Directory by nearly half a decade. Even now eDirectory provides one of the most flexible and advanced directory systems around. eDirectory has an LDAP connector that provides access into the eDirectory tree. This connector is in itself highly configurable as to what it exposes publicly (anonymous bind) via LDAP, authenticated (authenticated bind) or not at all (e.g. there is no way via LDAP to access some user attributes).

Apple OpenDirectory

Apple OpenDirectory is a part of the Apple Mac OS X server sphere and provides directory services for not only Mac's but also Linux and Windows (via Samba). OpenDirectory itself is built off OpenLDAP (just like Fedora) and provides various hooks. Support for this platform isn't well known.
